An American tourist was found dead in his room at the Blue Bay Hotel in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata according to the Central Directorate of Tourism Police (POLITUR). The deceased was identified as Paul Joseph Cammareri, 70 years old, who was staying in room no. 6111 of the hotel.
Cammareri arrived on April 24, 2024 with departure scheduled for May 14, 2024. He was found by a hotel employee on the morning of May 1, who noticed that he showed no vital signs.
The general deputy attorney, the medical examiner and members of the city’s Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) went to the site to assess the situation. According to the medical examiner’s report, the cause of the death was an acute myocardial infarction.
Mr. Cammareri’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santo Domingo, for the relevant procedures.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
