Naples: 48 million fake euros in a printing house

Seven counterfeiters arrested. A haul of 48 million fake euros. A clique led by the seventy-year-old expert forger Alfredo Muoio capable of continuously printing perfectly counterfeit 50 euro banknotes. The economic and financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples discovered a real treasure of fake euros: 48 million, in a depot in the Ponticelli district, where the impressive off-set machinery from the hinterland had been transferred. Seven people were arrested. In addition to the ringleaders, his two skilled forgers were caught. The two counterfeiters Alessandro Aprea and Ciro Di Mauro almost never moved from that warehouse. The high quality of the banknotes led the Special Unit of the Currency Police of Rome to believe that they were attributable to the “Napoli Group”, one of the most efficient cartels in the world which also operates on an itinerant basis between Caserta and Naples. Their selling price is very high: 20 real euros for each fake fifty piece.
