The passion for the green thumb involves 60% of Italians

A panacea for the body and the mind. Gardening is often recommended for therapeutic purposes: in the UK it is prescribed to patients suffering from depression, anxiety and stress. In fact, it reduces heart rate and blood pressure; improves muscle tone of arms, abdominals, buttocks and legs; increases strength; promotes balance and strengthens the immune system. Dedicating yourself to a green hobby has multiple benefits including a notable increase in psychophysical well-being. If in the past gardening was considered a hobby reserved for older people, today this is no longer the case thanks to a modernization of gardening and more general urban horticulture. The millennial generation born between 1985 and 1996 includes many enthusiasts of this hobby. The pandemic period also had an influence, leading many to develop this passion which then settled with the passage of time. Those who have taken up gardening during the pandemic have understood the added value of having plants, flowers and small urban gardens on their balcony or terrace, but also at home, and have not stopped taking care of them. In most cases, those who approached this activity in the hardest months of the coronavirus continued to purchase and deal with it on a daily basis.
